Liverpool have their eyes set on a player who starred against Manchester City last weekend

An in-form Wolves star has been added to Liverpool’s to January wishlist as The Reds draw up contingency plans for the potential departure of Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool remain determined to keep hold of Salah in the upcoming window amid interest from Saudi Arabia, but they have had a number of months to evaluate the market so that they can soften the blow of a potential Anfield exit.

Liverpool scouts are reportedly monitoring the availability of a number of talented wide players, according to FootballTransfers and one of those is Wolves star Pedro Neto.

Neto missed large sections of last season with injury and was limited to just 18 appearances, but he has emerged as a standout player for Wolves this term as they adjust to life without Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore.

The Portuguese international has been an asset for the West Midlands outfit this season - he has featured in every minute of every game so far this season and has registered one goal and five assists in the league.

Neto is an integral part of Gary O’Neil’s setup as Wolves aim to avoid a relegation fight this season and he produced one of his best performances of the season so far during a shock 2-1 home victory over Manchester City.

The 23-year-old’s talent was highlighted during the game at Molineux, when he produced a mesmerising run from inside his own half to go past Phil Foden and Nathan Ake, before forcing fellow Portugal international Ruben Dias into an own goal with a low driven cross.

Neto has been viewed as an exciting young talent since his arrival in England as a teenager in 2019 and he will undoubtedly have ambitions of breaking into the Portugal squad for next summer’s European Championships in Berlin.

Liverpool are keen to add the star to add depth to a team that is hoping to balance out the demands of European and domestic football, but Football Transfers claims that Liverpool are currently unhappy with the price tag that has been set by Wolves amid claims clubs will demand a higher fee from the Reds if Salah makes the move to Saudi Arabia.

FootballTransfers adds that Liverpool may also turn their attention to Juventus star Federico Chiesa.

He made a name for himself in the summer of 2021 as he guided Italy to European Championship glory and he kicked off the campaign in fine form with four goals from seven games for Juventus.
