Premier League team of the week dominated by Aston Villa, Wolves, Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea - gallery

Here’s how the Premier League team of the week shapes up for the weekend of September 30 to October 2.

Gameweek seven of the Premier League threw up some interesting results - with a total of 29 goals hitting the back of the net over the course of thre days.

West Midlands outfits Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers both had reasons to celebrate as they recorded big wins in different ways. Unai Emery's side got the Premier League weekend off to a start with a thumping 6-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Saturday lunch-time kick-off.

Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick with England manager Gareth Southgate in attendance, whilst Jacob Ramsey netted a goal as he completed his comeback from injury.

Pervis Estupinan scored an own-goal, and whilst the match wasn't completely perfect as Ansu Fati pulled back a consolation, Douglas Luiz further increased the advantage by scoring in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

At Molienux we saw one of the surprise results of the weekend as Wolves toppled the Premier League champions Manchester City. Gary O’Neil’s side had beeen dumped out of the Carabao Cup in midweek against Ipswich Town, and so a win against the Citizens was a welcome surprise after the disappointment on Tuesday night.

Pedro Neto put in a superb display, and went on a marauding run which resulted in Ruben Dias scoring an own-goal, as he directed the ball into his own net and past goalkeeper Ederson. Julian Alvarez did get Pep Guardiola's side back on level terms but they weren't level for long as Hwang Hee-chan restored their lead, and City could not find a response.

Elsewhere, Arsenal recorded a convincing 4-0 win over AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, whilst West Ham United claimed a 2-0 victory over strugglers Sheffield United, and Chelsea won on their travels for the first time under Mauricio Pochettino as they beat West London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The results left Villa in fifth - just three points off of league leaders Man City, whilst Wolves are up to 15th, and are four points above the drop zone. Individual performances from several stars from Wolves and Aston Villa, saw them earn a place in the Premier League team of the week, and their inclusions are thoroughly deserved.
