Wolves have reportedly made a fresh approach to sign Ajax attacker Carlos Forbs.

According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, a fresh proposal was submitted to Ajax this morning. Wolves are working with a limited transfer budget and so it will be a 'difficult move to complete' but as for personal terms there are no issues.

The 20-year-old was a reported target for Wolves when Pedro Neto was being linked with a move to Chelsea, and now they have reignited their interest. Ornstein’s report comes after Fabrizio Romano gave an update that Wolves were perhaps looking at other targets after the player had a change in agent.

In another report, Dutch outlet Voetbal International said that Ajax reached an agreement with both Lyon and Wolves on the transfer fee for Forbs. It is now up to him as to what club he will choose to play his football.

Wolves are in the market for a wide player following Neto’s £54m sale to Chelsea. Burnley’s Luca Koleosho was a player of interest but talks broke down after the Clarets demanded £40m for the 19-year-old Italian youth international.

Forbs is under a long-term contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena with four more years to run on the five-year deal he signed last summer following a €14m move from Manchester City. He has featured in six of Francesco Farioli’s eight games in charge but has been an unused substitute against Jagiellonia Bialystok and NAC Breda recently.

News of Wolves’ fresh interest in Forbs comes at the same time as news emerges of interest from La Liga for Goncalo Guedes. Well-known Spanish newspaper Marca say Villarreal are looking for a new winger ahead of the deadline and Guedes is a popular choice, however, they believe a departure from Wolves would be difficult.

The 27-year-old, who was signed for £27.5m in August 2022, returned to the Midlands this summer from a loan spell at Villarreal, and Guedes has managed to work his way back into the first-team picture. Guedes scored twice in a 2-0 win over Burnley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and has been an unused substitute against Arsenal and Chelsea in their opening two games of the Premier League season.
