Former Wolves academy graduate set to land England call
The former Wolves homegrown talent has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign.
Former Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is set for the opportunity at a first England cap in almost a year with a belated call up to Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
It is reported the Nottingham Forest star is poised to join with the Three Lions group as a replacement for Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, who is to be withdrawn to manage his fitness.
Gibbs-White, 26, was controversially left out of Tuchel’s World Cup squad during the summer despite playing a starring role for Forest last season.
He has six England caps and last featured for the Three Lions last October in a friendly cameo against Wales. Gibbs-White won his first England cap in September 2024, two years after swapping Wolverhampton for Nottingham.
The ex-Molineux youngster netted a remarkable 18 goals in 55 games in all competitions from midfield last term. His goalscoring exploits from February onwards, when Gibbs-White struck 12 times, were especially impressive.
Stafford-born Gibbs-White, who went to school at Thomas Telford in Shropshire, was said to be on a family holiday in Dubai at the beginning of this extended three-week international break when he got the call from England chiefs that he has been selected to replace Palmer.
It is also claimed Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is set to be pulled owing to a hip concern.
