The same report claims that the Baggies’ Championship rivals Ipswich also have the dynamic striker, who can also play on either wing, on their list of potential targets this month. Burnley boss Vincent Kompany was also an apparent admirer of the £1.5m-rated player in the summer. Meanwhile, Blackburn supposedly had three loan offers for the Berlin-born ace turned down in the last transfer window.

West Brom, who sit fifth in the table heading into today’s game at Rovers, have this week been linked with a move for former Aston Villa and Wolves front man Andi Weimann, whose career at Bristol City appears to be drawing to a close.

Now Scherhant is the latest to appear on their so-called wanted list as Coberan looks to improve his side’s promotion chances. The 21-year-old has scored once in 13 first-team appearances for the Bundesliga 2 side, who were relegated from the German top flight last season, However, Scherhant has five goals from four reserve games appearances.

The player is contracted to Hertha Berlin until the summer of 2027 after agreeing to a new deal last summer.
