The 32-year-old is out of contract in the summer and is not expected to be offered a new contract. Weimann is the club captain of Bristol City but has not had a consistent run of starts following the arrival of Liam Manning.

Weimann has been limited to just three starts and according to the Bristol Post, there is an agreement in his contract that should he play a certain amount of games it would trigger an automatic 12-month extension. It could mean that his playing time is limited for the forseeable future to avoid keeping a player that might not feature prominently in the managers plans.

Weimann is a former Aston Villa and Wolves forward and spent five-years of his career at Villa Park. He registered 24 goals and 14 assists in 129 games for the Villains.

He later joined Derby County for an undisclosed fee and scored nine goals in 88 games for the Rams. The 21-time Austria international was sent out on loan to Wolves during his stay at Pride Park and he got three goals and two assists in two games.

West Brom and Bristol City have already done business this season after the Baggies chose to loan out Taylor Gardner-Hickman to them. Gardner-Hickman was signed by then manager Nigel Pearson in mid-August but has still been incorporated in Manning's plans. He's made 23 appearances to date for Bristol City with two assists and one goal.
