West Brom’s injury list continues to grow whilst Burnley have been without some key players for some time.

West Brom bid to end a seven game winless run when they host Burnley at the Hawthorns in the EFL Championship on Thursday night.

The Baggies and the Clarets have to wait until everyone else has played until they meet in the West Midlands. WBA will have gone almost a week since their last fixture, and have a day's rest over Burnley.

Following Tuesday's results, West Brom are in sixth, and Burnley are in fourth. Two points separate the two sides, and a win for WBA would see them overtake Scott Parker's men.

In their last match, West Brom drew 1-1 with Luton Town, having taken the lead through Josh Maja on Friday night. Burnley lost 1-0 to Millwall on Sunday courtesy of a Jake Cooper goal. Will the two days between WBA and Burnley’s fixture mean a slight edge for the hosts? Here’s the latest injury and team news.

West Brom team news

Carlos Corberan has revealed another bit of bad news, as they’re sweating on the fitness of Gianluca Frabotta. Frabotta has found his playing time limited with seven appearances, though he's had just one start.

"Frabotta couldn't train today because he felt something in the groin, in the adductor, which didn't allow him to train,” said Corberan in his pre-match press conference.

“Hopefully he is better on Wednesday and he can train to be ready and involved because we are in a situation without many defenders. From the previous game that is the only update I will tell you because the other situation we have are long-term injuries."

Injuries to Kyle Bartley, Paddy McNair, and Semi Ajayi have forced West Brom in to playing a makeshift centre-back partnership. Mason Holgate is being deployed as a right-sided centre-half, and he’s been partnered up with Torbjorn Heggem, who was deployed as a left-back, until Friday night.

Ajayi and McNair are both out with hamstring injuries. Both of them had to come off in the goalless draw against Cardiff City, and last week the bad news was broke by Carlos Corberan that they would be out for a significant period.

McNair is expected to be out for around eight weeks, and so there's a possibility he might not play for the club again, with his loan expiring at the end of December. Ajayi on the other hand won’t be in contention until February.

Out of the injured trio, Bartley is the closest, as he had to have a procedure that addressed a knee problem, and that has put him out until the end of November, or middle of December.

It was hopeful Daryl Dike would make a return after spending time on the sidelines with an Achilles problem, but that isn't the case. He suffered a setback in training, with a muscle injury now ruling him out until the New Year.

Out: Kyle Bartley, Paddy McNair, Semi Ajayi, and Daryl Dike. Doubt: Gianluca Frabotta

Burnley team news

Dutch attacking midfielder Zian Flemming is back and available for selection for Burnley. He is on loan from Millwall and was unable to play against his former club.

Manuel Benson has spent the last few months on the sidelines. A calf/achilles injury against Blackburn Rovers has had him out since the end of August. Hannes Delcroix hasn’t played a minute of football this term, and is out.

Jordan Beyer is another confirmed absentee and won't return until the New Year. He had to undergo an operation for a meniscus (knee injury) and hasn't played since December 2023.

Hjalmar Ekdal suffered a hamstring injury whilst on duty with Sweden in the summer. Lyle Foster remains sidelined after suffering a knee injury during the October international break.

Jeremy Sarmiento overcame a late fitness test at the weekend to be named as a substitute. He came on and played for around half-an-hour after missing the last two matches.

Aaron Ramsey is still injured after suffering a knee injury against Arsenal in February. He's back on the grass, but a return is still a long way off. It's better news for Mike Tresor though as he's getting close towards making a return. He's yet to make an appearance this campaign as he deals with a long-term injury problem, but he's back in training.

Nathan Redmond is another long-term absentee. He had to have surgery in January, but has been spotted in training, and a return can't be too far away. A foot injury for Joe Worrall however has had him sidelined since the end of September.

Out: Manuel Benson, Hannes Delcroix, Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal, Aaron Ramsey, Nathan Redmond, and Joe Worrall. and Lyle Foster. Doubt: Mike Tresor
