West Bromwich Albion play host to Frank Lampard’s Coventry City at The Hawthorns this Wednesday night.

The Baggies will be desperate to get back to winning ways at the Shrine after drawing 10 of their last 11 Championship matches. Although Albion have proven difficult to beat, the last victory was over a month ago away at Hull City and the play-off positions are slowly slipping away.

Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Championship leaders Sheffield United was certainly a step in the right direction as West Brom had the better share of possession and created just as many clear-cut opportunities as the Blades. It was by no means a perfect performance but there were signs of improvement.

Attention now turns to Coventry, who haven’t been at their best so far this season but appear to have enjoyed a new manager bounce under Lampard having beaten the in-form Millwall 1-0 at The Den. The Sky Blues will arrive in town with renewed confidence, so Albion must take great care.

Baggies boss Carlos Corberan could be tempted to rotate his lineup slightly with the fixture congestion ramping up throughout the festive period but the likeliest outcome is seeing the same XI that faced Sheffield United.

West Brom predicted lineup vs Coventry

GK - Alex Palmer: The goalkeeper has started the new season strongly, keeping clean sheets in nine of the 19 Championship matches so far.

RB - Darnell Furlong: Furlong is one of the first names on the team sheet. Sunderland away three weeks ago was his only ever game missed under Corberan.

CB - Kyle Bartley: The experienced defender is fully up to speed having played all 90 minutes last time out. Bartley is an important presence at the back.

CB: Torbjorn Heggem: A goalscorer last time out, Heggem has towered above many of his Albion teammates this term - especially for consistency.

LB - Callum Styles: Perhaps at fault for one of Sheffield United’s goals the other day but has impressed for the most part in the left-back role.

CM - Jayson Molumby: In and out of the team in competition with Uros Racic, we’re backing Molumby to continue in the starting lineup.

CM - Alex Mowatt: Corberan’s preferred choice in the number eight role, Mowatt hasn’t set the world alight recently but he’s still one of Albion’s best options.

RM - Tom Fellows: The England Under-21 international is without doubt one of the Baggies’ most dangerous players, as exemplified by his goal against the Blades.

LM - Mikey Johnston: Signed for £3million, Johnston is yet to set the world alight but he’s certainly got talent. Grady Diangana, meanwhile, could return off the bench.

ST - Karlan Grant: Often one of West Brom’s best performers and hardest-working players, Grant has profited from moving central in recent outings.

ST - Josh Maja: West Brom’s top scorer with 10 this term, Maja has stepped up for the team. The goals have slowed recently but he’ll be eager to add to his tally.
