West Brom are currently eyeing promotion to the Premier League

West Brom won 1-0 at home to QPR over the weekend. Striker Adam Armstrong, who is on loan from Southampton, scored their winner against the Hoops.

The Baggies saw defender Darnell Furlong sent off against his former club. Nevertheless, they held on to pick up a valuable three points to boost their promotion push.

Tony Mowbray’s side are sat in 6th place in the Championship table with 10 fixtures left to play this season. They are inside the play-offs with Burnley, Sunderland and Coventry City.

West Brom latest

West Brom made the top six last year but lost at the semi-finals stage over two legs to Southampton. They will be aiming to reach the final this time around.

The Baggies saw Carlos Corberan head out the exit door for Valencia earlier this winter. He was replaced by Mowbray and the experienced coach has done a steady job so far. Speaking after their victory over QPR, he said: “It’s a massive victory for us. I have to thank the supporters who were fantastic throughout the game, but especially in that second half when we need the extra man and it came from the terraces.

“We were backs to the wall against a decent team and the fans got us through. First half, they were good with the ball and they played through us a couple of times.

“It was a difficult 45 minutes after the break because they had the extra man and we knew they’d be pushing to find an equaliser. The crowd made a lot of noise and gave the players the extra five or ten per cent that they needed to dig in and show the resolve required to get the three points. I’ve said to the lads in the dressing room that that’s probably our biggest result of the season, in my opinion. Other teams have been beaten and others have got draws. We've got a big win.”
