West Brom picked up an impressive 2-0 away win at Reading over the weekend. The Baggies won just their second game of the season at the Select Car Leasing Stadium courtesy of goals from Matt Phillips and Taylor Gardner-Hickman.

The Midlands club remain in the hunt for a new manager to replace Steve Bruce after sacking the ex-Hull City and Aston Villa man last week following their poor start to the campaign. Richard Beale is in caretaker charge and is expected to remain in his post for the game against Bristol City tomorrow, as detailed in a report by The Athletic.

Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher has become the latest name to be linked with the vacancy at the Hawthorns. However, Plymouth Live report that that there has been ‘no approach’ for him from West Brom as of yet and he is under contract at Home Park until 2025.

Sean Dyche, who left Burnley earlier this year, is someone that could be seen as an ideal candidate but it remains to be seen whether he would be open to dropping into the Championship. Carlos Corberan is another who has been mentioned and BBC Sport claimed last week that the Baggies were ‘keen’ to speak to him. The Daily Mail also mentioned the Spaniard as a potential option but reported he wasn’t the only individual being considered, with Chris Wilder and Rob Edwards also available.

Fellow second tier bosses such as Swansea City’s Russell Martin, Wigan Athletic’s Leam Richardson and Millwall’s Gary Rowett have been linked with the job as well. However, all three came out last week to quash the speculation.

Beale seemed to get the best out of the players against Reading and he will be looking to make it back-to-back wins against Bristol City. The Robins have won just once in their last seven outings.
