West Brom are reportedly keen on Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher. The Baggies are in the hunt for a new manager to replace Steve Bruce after sacking the ex-Hull City and Aston Villa man last week following their poor start to the Championship season.

Schumacher, 38, is now ‘under consideration’ for the vacancy at the Hawthorns, as reported by The Sun. Richard Beale is currently in caretaker charge and guided the team to a 2-0 away win at Reading yesterday.

The Liverpudlian spent his playing career as a midfielder and had spells at Bradford City, Crewe Alexandra and Fleetwood Town before hanging up his boots after making 471 appearances in all competitions. He then delved into the coaching world and had spells at Everton and Southport before linking up with Ryan Lowe at Bury.

Schumacher then followed Lowe to Plymouth and eventually got the top job when his colleague landed the Preston North End managerial position last year. He has since impressed as a number one and his Pilgrims team are currently top of the League One table.

He is being tipped for a bright future in the game and has now emerged on the radar of West Brom as they weigh up their next move. The Midlands club are currently 20th in the second tier table and are a point above the drop zone.
