Hamza Choudhury would be a ‘big statement signing’ for West Brom if they are able to get a deal for the Leicester City midfielder over the line.

That’s according to BirminghamWorld football reporter Ben Ramsdale who also adds that it’s the one area of the team Steve Bruce has wanted to improve the most.

Albion have already held ‘advanced talks’ with the Foxes man and it’s likely that a move would be a loan with an option to buy - if the Baggies earned promotion to the Premier League at the end of next season.

Choudhury would certainly go a long way in helping them do that, too. He’s played a decent part in a very good Leicester side since really bursting onto the first team scene in 2019 and although his game time of late has dipped, he’s never looked out of place at that level when called upon.

He only made 12 appearances in all competitions throughout 2021/22 so more game time is key for the former England under-21 international - something he would certainly get at the Hawthorns.

Jed Wallace

Elsewhere and yet another midfielder Albion are closing in on is former Millwall favourite, Jed Wallace.

The 28-year-old, who is often deployed as a winger, is set to leave the Den after five years when his contract expires at the end of June with the Express & Star reporting that the Baggies are one ‘of a number of clubs’ to have offered him a deal.

Wallace is currently away on holiday mulling over his options and he’s expected to make a decision within the next 7-10 days.

Steve Bruce’s side return for pre-season training camp on June 23rd and there’s no denying that the former Newcastle United manager will want one if not both of the names mentioned above to be sewed up before that date.
