Just like petrol and diesel, the value of players in the Championship is only going up and up in 2022.
Last season alone saw Fulham fork out of £12million on one player in Harry Wilson whilst West Brom even pushed the boat out, spending near £9million to bring American Daryl Dike to the Hawthorns.
But spending big doesn’t always equal success with certain clubs like Huddersfield Town and Luton Town - who both ultimately made the play-offs - having great success with the free agent and loan market.
And it’s no surprise why the Terriers and Hatters chose that route when you take a look at the current market prices of some of the top Championship players going into the 22/23 season.
Using figures taken from transfermarkt.co.uk, BirminghamWorld have taken a look at the top 17 valued players in England’s second tier to find out who have some of the most valuable assets in the division.
Unsurprisingly, the relegated trio of Burnley, Watford and Norwich City dominate the list whilst West Brom also have a couple of pricey additions.
1. Ismaïla Sarr - £24.30m
The midfielder scored five goals and provided two assists in 22 Premier League games last season. Watford are reportedly open to 'sensible offers' for the player.

3. James Tarkowski - £19.8m
The centre-back is estimated to be worth close to £20m but with his contract up at the end of this month he is set to join a new club for free. Everton are reportedly closest to securing his services.

4. Dwight McNeil - £19.8m
The 22-year-old appeared in all of Burnley's Premier League games last season. He is one the club's prized assets and it would be no surprise to see a top-flight club come in for him this window.
