There has been a mixed response from the West Brom faithful following the opening day 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on Saturday evening.

Isaiah Jones, who was a menace all game, gave Boro the lead after 10 minutes but two of Albion’s summer signings, Jed Wallace and John Swift combined to level things up just after the break, the latter finishing well past Zack Steffen.

Steve Bruce’s men didn’t really get going in the first-half but looked far better in the second period. It’s a game last season that they may well have lost, so positives can be taken.

Here’s how the Albion faithful have reacted to the performance.

@TheRainbowStand: “Fair result. 2nd half more like what we expect. A bit tiresome watching us ‘perform’ for 45mins a game though. JS JW and SA the pick. Fullback areas need addressing”

@aclashofchris: “Yokuslu, Diangana and Dike in for Livermore, Phillips and Grant and I will be very excited for the rest of the season!”

@ToastedJonas: “Better second half. But I never want to see Livermore or Phillips start again. A point away isn’t bad tho.”

@JW824_WBA: “I’ll take that. Dike looks great. Will absolutely bully every defender against him this year.”

@Yo_Commander: “Much better 2nd half lads Really enjoy watching Jed and Swifty. Thought Semi and Dara played well, as did Dike when he came on. First half was unacceptable though. Furlong and Button both looked like liabilities all game Take the point and move on.”

@MilesFoster14: “Boro are a good team. Not gonna complain taking a point away from a tough away game for our first day back. Diangana needs to start from now on.”

@aidennwba: “better second half, never want to see phillips anywhere near the squad again”

@JamesHamiltonGK: “Second half was promising. Thought O’Shea and Ajayi were brilliant together too”
