West Brom could be re-united with one of their former players next season - however, he will not be wearing the famous blue and white. Instead, Matt Phillips could don a yellow shirt, as he is currently ‘set’ to join Oxford United in the coming days.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) from journalist Tom Barclay, he wrote: “Understand former Premier League winger Matt Phillips is set to join Championship new-boys Oxford, after leaving West Brom.”

Phillips spent a total of eight years with the Baggies, making 238 league appearances and scoring 28 goals along the way. Last season, he played in 26 Championship games, scoring three goals and notching up three assists. Previously, he has also turned out for clubs such as Queens Park Rangers, Wycombe Wanderers and Sheffield United. He left West Brom in the summer on a free transfer when his contract at the Hawthorns expired.

He also has international experience under his belt - the 33 year old won 16 caps for Scotland, scoring a single goal for the Tartan Army. Previously to this, he had played for England internationally at U19 and U20 level.

Leeds United ‘renew’ interest in Fenerbahce’s Ryan Kent

Leeds are set to ‘reignite’ their interest in former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder Ryan Kent in the coming weeks, according to a recent report from Turkish outlet Haber Expres.

The Whites have been linked with Kent for several years - their interest in the player can be traced back to their time under Marcelo Bielsa. Now, with Kent becoming a peripheral figure at Fenerbahce, it might finally be time for him to make his long-awaited jump to Elland Road.

Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho has given Kent the ‘green light’ to leave in the summer. It is unclear how much the ex-Chelsea boss will want for his services, though it is unlikely to be a particularly high figure. Nevertheless, Leeds are thought to be lining up a bid in the region of £2.5 million.

Last season, Kent endured a season largely spent on the side lines in the Turkish Super Lig. He made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and racking up a pair of assists. While he has never played in a senior international game for England, he did represent the Three Lions at U20, winning six caps and scoring one goal along the way.
