West Brom striker Callum Marshall will reportedly return to West Ham United, according to reports on social media.

Marshall joined the Baggies on a six-month loan deal from the Hammers in January. It is the first time that the 19-year-old has played away from West London after joining from Linfield in 2022.

His time at the Hawthorns has been bar from fruitful however as he has been limited to just three substitute appearances. He has played a total of 54 minutes, with 28 and 26 minute cameos against Birmingham City and Southampton.

According to West Ham Football, a social media page with just under 50,000 followers, they have claimed that ExWHUEmployee, who boasts 156,000 followers on X, said that Marshall has been recalled.

The 19-year-old could play for under-21s team in their Premier League International Cup match against PSV on Tuesday night. It casts doubt over Marshall’s future at West Brom, and puts in to question whether he will play any part against Rotherham United in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday evening.

As to whether the rumours are true will be revealed this evening when West Ham name their team. Marshall is unable to play at any other club with the player registration window shut. At the most, he could play for their under-21s side, but would be ineligible to feature for their senior team.

The young striker has been kept out of the team by Brandon Thomas-Asante as well as West Brom's other forward options. Josh Maja is expected to return from his ankle injury that has had him sidelined since December and that could put Marshall further down the pecking order.

In March, Carlos Corberan addressed Marshall’s lack of game time by saying: “"It's a pity because he's a player with a lot of good skills and he's in a position where there is still a lot of growth," said Corberan.

"He is in a growing process but he isn't going to be just ready with game minutes. It's part of this. We have players who went on loan to places where we wanted them to play, and they didn't."

"Some players have the experience, they have used this time, this process and they've brought these things with them when they've needed to compete. Other players still need to grow - when you are 17,18,19 years old and you go into one level of the Championship, to a club like West Bromwich which is in a good position in the table, you cannot go there in your first loan thinking this is under 21 level."

"He knows this. I remember in the first notes that he put in the club, he was very conscious of this - it's a process that he needed and wanted to do. At West Ham, he trained six times with the first team. The other parts were with the 21s. They're competing in the same league as our 21s and how many players from our under 21s are in our squad? Only in the cup we did."
