Manager provides update on former West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday man on trial at Swansea City

Adam Reach continues to train with Swansea City as the former West Brom man’s search for a new club goes on.

The 31-year-old is in to his second week of training with the Welsh side. He along with former Hull City defender Cyrus Christie are both at their training base, and are bidding to bring their period of free agency to an end.

Christie and Reach are essentially on trial, as the two try and do enough to persuade head coach Luke Williams to take a chance on them. Several players were away on international duty and so they made up the numbers, but now with players back, they are getting to know their potential new teammates more.

“We identified two very good quality players who are without a contract at the moment,” said Williams to WalesOnline.

“It was a good week or so for us because there are less numbers in the training group.

“We had a good look at them. They trained today. We have had a chance to have a look at these guys and they have had a look at us as well.”

During the international break, Swansea suffered an injury. Eom Jisung was with South Korea when he was dealt a knee ligament injury which will sideline him for the next six weeks.

Ji-sung is a left-sided winger and Reach is capable of playing in his position. Left-sided winger is Reach's main position, but he is also capable of dropping further back to left-back or left wing-back, and has also played as a central midfielder.

Asked if there was a possibility that either one of them could sign, Williams added: “Some. I think probably I can’t tell you things at the moment because we haven't had the discussions first. As and when we do that I will report to you.

“They are two brilliant players, high-level players, and two very good characters as well. we don’t bring the wrong people into the group.

“It’s been great having them in because they have experience and quality and they train in the correct way. They treat as if they are contracted players and they have been a pleasure.

“It’s been a valuable experience for us all I think.”
