West Bromwich Albion have paid tribute to one of their most famous supporters, who has tragically died at just 31-years-old

The 31-year-old singer from Wolverhampton died outside a hotel in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, local media reported.

He had reportedly fallen from the third floor of the building. Payne has a son called Bear from his previous relationship with singer Cheryl.

Born in the Heath Town area of Wolverhampton, Liam was a big West Brom fan, often attending games at The Hawthorns over the years.

The club expressed their sadness in a post on social media. A statement from West Brom on Twitter, read: “We're shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Baggies fan and musician, Liam Payne.

“Our thoughts are with Liam's family, friends and loved ones at this tragic time.”
