Simon Jordan has claimed Birmingham City’s owners have got ‘precisely what they deserve’ as the Blues prepare to reappoint former manager Gary Rowett.

With Tony Mowbray still spending time away from his role as he undergoes medical treatment, Mark Venus has stepped into the lead role in the dugout in recent weeks - but the former Ipswich Town defender has claimed just one point in during his spell in charge.

Tuesday morning brought reports the Blues owners, Knighthead, are ready to bring back former manager Rowett on a short-term basis. Jordan, former owner and chairman at Crystal Palace, backed the former Blues boss to lead the club to safety in the Championship - but hit out of the club’s owners after their decision to replace John Eustace with Wayne Rooney backfired earlier in the season.

Speaking on talkSPORT Jordan said: “He will do a job there is no doubt about it and quite frankly Birmingham have got precisely what they deserve, the owners, not fans to be clear. The ownership model that took out John Eustace and decided to put in Wayne Rooney.”

Baggies star reveals owner talks

West Bromwich Albion star Jed Wallace was left ‘very motivated’ by his first meeting with new Baggies owner Shilen Patel.

Just under a month has passed since the American businessmen completed a deal with former owner Guochuan Lai to become majority shareholder at the Hawthorns and wasted little time in introducing himself to key figures around the club. Wallace revealed the new owner held talks with the Baggies squad prior to the recent 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers and admitted he was enthused by what Patel had to say.

He said: “He spoke to us before the QPR game and came to introduce himself to the lads – to be honest, it was very motivational what he said to us. He said we have an opportunity to make the fans really proud this season – and we shouldn’t take that opportunity for granted. It was great to see him, he had a pre-match meal with us. Things like that go a long way, being around a group of players, and I know he’s keen to come and watch a lot of our games, and that’s the way it should be. From the ground staff upwards, we all feel as though we’re pushing in the right direction.”
