Hide AdAccording to Sky Sports reporter Ron Walker, Scott Parker is taking a ‘close look’ at Twine who failed to nail down a place at Turf Moor during Vincent Kompany’s tenure. The 25-year-old did himself no harm this week as he scored a 45-minute hat-trick against Barnsley in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
Birmingham City, Bristol City and Sunderland are all reportedly keen to sign Twine, and had been waiting to see what would happen with their manager situation but the new man in situ wants to run the rule over Twine. Burnley have pre-season games against Celtic, Hearts, Newcastle United and Cadiz, and he could get an opportunity in all of those matches, unless something dramatically changes.
Twine was signed for a reported £4m from MK Dons, but played just 14 times in the Clarets’ Championship winning side. He was limited to just five starts in the league but still registered three goals and an assist.

Hide AdBurnley’s promotion to the Premier League saw Twine loaned out to Hull City for the first part of last season. Twine got four goals and three assists in 26 games, with 20 starts for the Tigers.
Despite Hull challenging for the play-offs and Twine playing regularly, they chose to cut short the loan. Twine was loaned out to Bristol City, and he appeared 10 times for the Robins but his time at Ashton Gate was hampered by an injury.
Bristol City have remained in contact with Burnley over Twine, but like Birmingham and Sunderland, they must now wait and see what Burnley plan to do with him. According to the Bristol Post, Twine trained at Bristol City’s training ground during the off season, and that could put Birmingham on the back burner.
