Former Birmingham City goalkeeper Lee Camp is second favourite to take the reins at Accrington Stanley.

Accrington parted ways with long-serving boss John Coleman earlier this month and now all eyes are on who will replace him at the Wham Stadium. The Lancashire outfit are currently 16th and are nine points off the play-offs and 16 points above the drop zone. The owner wanted a change in management, and a range of former players and manager's have been linked.

Bookmaker BetVictor has Camp second in the running with caretaker boss John Doolan the current favourite for the role. The 39-year-old has odds of 6/1, which would give him an outside chance of getting the post.

It was reported by EFL journalist Alan Nixon in September that Camp was eyeing his first job in senior management when the Darlington job became available and now an opportunity in the EFL has become available. He has been coaching at League One outfit Blackpool, working with their under-16s team having retired in the summer of 2022.

Camp was at Birmingham City from 2018 to 2020 after joining on a free transfer from Cardiff City. He was their first-choice goalkeeper in the 2018/19 campaign and made 86 appearances in total before he was released. He joined Coventry City following his departure from Birmingham and then Swindon Town, before dropping in to the non-league to play for Clitheroe.

His last club ended up being Wrexham where he signed a short-term contract, but ended up not playing a single game for the Welsh outfit. The other clubs in his career included Nottingham Forest where he played just under 200 times as well as their East Midlands rivals Derby County, along with QPR, Rotherham United, Bournemouth and Sunderland.

In BetVictor's list of contenders, another former Blues man is among those under consideration. David Dunn who played for Birmingham from between 2003 to 2007 is the fourth favourite. The 44-year-old played in the Premier League for Birmingham and made 69 appearances over three-and-a-half seasons at St Andrew's.

Dunn unlike Camp has had some managerial experience at senior level and has managed Oldham Athletic and Barrow on a permanent basis. He is currently out of work having left Port Vale in February 2024 following the sacking of Andy Crosby.
