According to Hull Live, Stansfield would be of interest to Hull City if he became available for loan. Stansfield has been a long term transfer target and should he still be at Fulham during the later stages of the transfer window then it is a deal that they could consider exploring.

The 21-year-old is wanted by a handful of Championship clubs which include Cardiff City, Sunderland, and Leeds United. Blues have an interest in re-signing him and are trying to sign him on a permanent deal, and Fulham's plans for him at the moment are still unclear.

"Jay Stansfield is a player they really like," said their dedicated reporter Baz Cooper. They’ve looked at him for a period of time now, not just this summer. I think he’s been on their list for quite a long time.

“That is a deal that a lot of clubs (want) and I think City will be involved in that. If Stansfield comes up later in the window for loan, they’ll be after him.”

The Tigers are already set to add to their front line with the addition of Brandon Thomas-Asante who is poised to join from West Brom in a deal worth £3m. Hull City are also in the market for Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson and Leicester City's Kasey McAteer.

Birmingham have already been busy in the transfer market and are said to have made a few phone calls to Peterborough United about some of their players players. Harrison Burrows who joined Sheffield United in a deal worth £3m which could rise to £6m is expected to be one of them.

Speaking on his Hard Truth podcast, Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: "They (Blues) contacted Barry Fry about four of our players this summer, but Barry kept saying ‘no’ to them - but I honestly think, with the backing they have, they could do an Ipswich and get back into the Premier League never mind the Championship."

"Birmingham City are blowing everyone out of the water financially, but good luck to them. This is the business we are in and if we were a club of that size it’s exactly what we would do.

"If they are bidding £6m to £7m for Stansfield then fair play."
