New chapter for West Midlands city bar after refurbishment
Purity Bar & Kitchen is sporting a new look, name and menu as owners hope to make it a destination for events
A city centre bar in Birmingham will reopen this weekend after a refurbishment.
Purity Bar & Kitchen in Waterloo Street is set to welcome guests from November 6 back to the popular venue which overlooks the historic Victoria Square and Council House.
Owned by Warwickshire-based brewery Purity Brewing Co, the venue first opened in 2014 and until recently was known as Purecraft Bar and Kitchen.
The company says the venue will continue to serve craft beers and have a food menu but they want to widen its appeal as a destination for events and social occasions.
As part of the revamp, the downstairs Cellar Bar will have a new American pool table and augmented reality darts and continue to be available for exclusive hire.
It will also have an exclusive new menu developed by Birmingham-based Badboy Wings which will offer wings, burgers and loaded fries among other dishes.
Dominic Metcalfe is managing director of Great British Drinks Company which acquired Purity Brewing earlier this year after administrators were appointed to its then owner Keystone Brewing.

He said: "We're bringing Purity Bar & Kitchen back to its former glory. Partnering with the Badboy Wings team brings a whole new level of culinary credibility to our kitchen.
"Excitingly, this is the first time that the kitchen has been operated by a partner brand.
"Combined with our brand-new look and the launch of our exclusive downstairs Cellar Bar, we are proud to position Purity as Birmingham's premier destination for social occasions."
Craig Powers, co-founder of Badboy Wings, added: "Moving from Michelin-starred kitchens to the street food scene has always been about pushing flavour boundaries without losing soul.
"With this new refurbishment, we're taking everything people love about Badboy Wings and turning the dial all the way up.
"We're building a destination for serious food lovers, pairing our boldest, award-winning flavours with the kind of world-class energy Birmingham's food scene deserves."
