Ryan Woods is reportedly on the brink of completing a move to Hull City.

Woods was not involved in Blues’ game at Cardiff over the weekend, and was replaced by academy prospect Alfie Chang amid growing speculation about a move from St Andrew’s to Hull City.

Football Insider is reporting that Hull have now ‘agreed to sign’ the former Millwall and Stoke City playmaker. The report states that the 28-year-old will now complete a medical and finalise terms on a permanent move. The transfer will be a blow to John Eustace, who would have hoped to be able to keep the midfielder at St Andrew’s this season.

Blues look to bounce back from first defeat

Eustace’s men are looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the new Championship season when they take on Watford at St Andrew’s this evening (16 August).

Jaden Philogene-Bidace’s first half goal was enough to earn Cardiff City a 1-0 win over John Eustace’s side in the Welsh capital on Saturday (13 August), and Blues will be looking to provide an immediate response when they take on recently relegated Watford, who remain unbeaten after taking seven points from their first three games.

Team news

Eustace has said he will assess Jordan Graham’s fitness ahead of the clash against Watford. Winger Graham missed Blues’ 1-0 loss at Cardiff after suffering a knee injury, although Eustace is optimistic about a quick recovery.

Third-placed Watford will hope that Tom Cleverley is available following his half-time exit during the Hornets’ victory over Burnley. Cleverley scored the game’s only goal, but was then forced off after suffering a calf injury.

A definite absentee will be Watford full-back Hassane Kamara, who received a straight red card in the Burnley game and must now serve an automatic suspension. But new signing Hamza Choudhury is set to make his away debut after impressing against the Clarets following his arrival from Leicester.
