Luton Town or Coventry City will be playing in the Premier League next season as the two clubs get set to go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium in the play-off final.

All that remains for Birmingham City and West Brom is to find out the other teams who will join them in the EFL Championship season coming down from the top flight and up from League One. The priority now though is building their squads for next season and the summer transfer window will soon be open.

The Blues are thought to be very keen on a permanent deal for a player who impressed on loan and have been given a boost with reported news that Derby County would be open to a deal to sell the midfielder. At the Hawthorns, the Baggies look to have missed out on the signing of a defender who has recently visited league rivals Norwich City with a view to signing a pre-contract with the Canaries. Here are the latest transfer news headlines for Birmingham City and West Brom:

Derby County ‘open to selling’ Birmingham City target

According to a report from Football League World, Birmingham City remain keen on bringing Krystian Bielik back to the club on a permanent deal. That could become a possibility with the news that Derby County will be open to selling the defensive midfielder after missing out on promotion from League One.

Bielik impressed for the Blues during his loan spell so it seems likely the interest would be there. As for the player himself, the 25-year old initially pushed for the loan move last summer in order to give himself the best opportunity of featuring in the Polish national side by playing at the highest level possible so it seems likely he will be pursuing a move away from the Rams.

West Brom set to miss out on signing of ‘fantastic’ defender

Per a report from HITC, West Brom face missing out on Motherwell’s Max Johnston to a Championship rival with the teenager given a tour of Norwich City’s training ground recently. The 19-yer old looks set to become a free agent this summer when his contract with the Scottish Premiership side expires and is currently available to agree a pre-contract deal.

The teenager was nominated for the Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year award and has been impressive for The Steelmen, particularly in the latter half of the season under manager Stuart Kettelwell. Premier League clubs Fulham and Burnley have also previously been linked with the full back.
