Birmingham City are on the search for a first win in over a month as they host Huddersfield Town at St Andrew’s in the EFL Championship.

Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat to Norwich City away at Carrow Road on Saturday, and that made for a winless September. Several injury concerns emerged last month, and a few players will be out for the foreseeable future.

Huddersfield Town meanwhile continued their unbeaten start under new manager Darren Moore, who followed up last Monday’s late draw with Coventry City by drawing with Ipswich Town.

With all that in mind, here’s the latest injury and team news ahead of Birmingham City vs Huddersfield Town in the EFL Championship:

Birmingham City team news

Last week, left-back Lee Buchanan is the latest to join the injury list after sustaining a training ground injury. He rolled his ankle in training, and is expected to be out unti the international break. It’s a double-week to game through, and then players jet out for international football, but Buchanan was will be recuperating

Keshi Anderson is on the treatment table too after picking up an injury against QPR. A hamstring injury is to rule him out for between six to eight weeks, and on Saturday we saw a midfield attacking three of Jay Stansfield, Koji Miyoshi and Oliver Burke.

Siriki Dembele could come into the reckoning but he has only just recovered from a hamstring injury. The 27-year-old is not a doubt but someone who’s game time could be limited as he continues his gradual return to action.

Ethan Laird, George Hall and Tyler Roberts all remain sidelined with injuries meanwhile. Laird and Hall suffered hamstring injuries in August against Bristol City and Cardiff City respectively.

Tyler Roberts has a calf problem that has ruled him out for all but two games in August, and all of September. All three players are not close to a return with Roberts unfortunately suffering a setback.

Academy graduate Alfie Chang is a long-term absentee after a training ground injury in August. The 21-year-old suffered a ‘significant knee injury’ and required surgery, and will be out for the coming months.

Out: Alfie Chang, Ethan Laird, George Hall, Keshi Anderson, Lee Buchanan and Tyler Roberts.

Huddersfield Town team news

Danny Ward and David Kasumu are unlikely to feature for the Terriers. Striker Ward has an Achilles issue, whilst Kasumu is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Ward has been missing for the last four games, and hasn’t played since the last international break. Kasumu has missed the last two matches after coming off against Stoke City.

Both players should have their definitive time of absence told to them this week when the Huddersfield medical staff get their results from their tests.

Josh Ruffels is a doubt for Huddersfield meanwhile after like Kasumu, suffering an injury against Stoke. He didn’t play against Coventry City, and has a groin issue. He returned to training last week, but his status is doubtful.

Right-back Ollie Turton meanwhile is Huddersfield’s long-term absentee. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in February, and will be out until 2024.

Out: Danny Ward, David Kasumu, Ollie Turton. Doubtful: Josh Ruffels.
