The Blues are amongst the biggest spenders in the Championship this summer after acquiring the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi,Demarai Gray and Bright Osayi-Samuel among others and are seen as a team more than capable of achieving back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League after a record-breaking campaign last term.

They have an excellent budget at their disposal and an ambitious ownership group that wants to reach the big time as quickly as possible and it appears increasingly likely that they’ll be even more additions before the start of the 2025/26 Championship season.

Birmingham City express interest in Carlos Vicente

EFL Analysis report that Birmingham City are interested in signing Spanish footballer Carlos Vicente this summer. The 26-year-old currently plays his football for La Liga side Alavés after joining from lower league side Racing de Ferrol in January 2024.

He’s primarily a right-sided winger but has the versatility to play all over the front three and has on occasion been deployed as a centre forward.

Vicente has a record of seven goals and 10 assists in 57 appearances across all competitions for Alaves and managed 10 goals contributions in La Liga last term to help the team narrowly avoid relegation with a 15th place finish. He’s thought to be player that Chris Davies admires and could prove a worthwhile addition to an ambitious Birmingham team.

Terry Gibson backs Birmingham City to move for Carlos Vicente

Terry Gibson, a retired striker, best known for winning the FA Cup with Wimbledon in 1988 while also representing Manchester United and Tottenham earlier in his career, has claimed that Birmingham City’s financial muscle could play a huge role in enticing Carlos Vicente to St Andrew’s.

Speaking on El Tel and Jon’s La Liga Weekly podcast, he explains: “Oh I love watching Carlos Vicente. I think he’s fantastic,“It would be a bitter blow to Alaves if they lose him.

“Would he leave Alaves to go to Birmingham? My guess is he probably earns more money at Birmingham than he would at Alaves. I think, if the deal is right [it could happen]…

“Hard-working, a great attitude, necessary skill needed… Over the last couple of years, he has become a bit of a favourite of mine. So good news [for Birmingham fans] if they get him.”

The 26-year-old forward is believed to be valued at around £8.5m which could make him one of the biggest signings in the Championship this summer.
