Birmingham City picked up a 2-0 win away at Hull City yesterday. The Blues took the lead in the first-half through Troy Deeney’s penalty and added a second after the break through Juninho Bacuna.

Their boss John Eustace has labelled the latter as ‘excellent’ as he slotted in at right wing-back. The scoreline could have been even better for the visitors but they missed a second-half penalty when Deeney blasted over from 12 yards.

Bacuna, 25, has made an impressive start to the season for the Midlands outfit. He joined the club from Rangers in January and appears to be enjoying life under his new manager.

‘Excellent’...

Eustace said after the match at the MKM Stadium, as per the official club YouTube channel:

“He was excellent. What a fantastic goal as well. I think that just shows the importance of our squad. We can ask anyone to go and fill in anywhere and they’ll do it, no problem. We have to rest players, there is no moaning, we have got no egos, no big time charlies. Everyone is just willing to fight for the cause and sweat blood for the team and the club.”

Birmingham are going well at the moment and have lost only once in their last seven league games. That form has seen them rise up to 12th in the league table. They are only three points off the play-offs and their win over the Tigers will give them more confidence.

Next up is a tricky home clash against Burnley this Wednesday evening and the Clarets go into that one on the back of their 4-0 win over Swansea City. Vincent Kompany’s side are top of the Championship table now as well.
