Aston Villa will have a big say in the title race and the battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League over the next few days.

Steven Gerrard’s side take on relegation threatened Burnley at Villa Park this Thursday (19 May) in their final home game of the season, before a trip to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (22 May) as Manchester City look to seal their fourth Premier League title in five years.

Anything other than a City win on the final day of the campaign would give Liverpool the opportunity to pounce and take the title away from Pep Guardiola - as long as they beat Southampton on Tuesday night and Wolves at Anfield on Sunday.

Former Liverpool skipper Gerrard would of course love to take points of City and hand his old club the chance to win their second Premier League title, but before that Villa will also have a big say in the battle to avoid the drop.

Although Villa are well and truly safe themselves in 14th place, Burnley go into their penultimate game of the season in the bottom three and desperately in need of a positive result at Villa Park.

A point for Mike Jackson’s side would be enough to take them out of the relegation zone on goal difference and leapfrog Leeds United into 17th place, but a Villa win would hand Leeds the initiative and mean Burnley’s fate would be out of their own hands going into the final round of fixtures on Sunday.

Kortney Hause and Leon Bailey both missed the 1-1 draw with Palace and will also likely miss the game against Jackson’s side.

Burnley have a host of injury concerns going into the vital fixture, with James Tarkowski, Ben Mee and James Rodriguez all doubts for the game.

And although the Clarets could welcome back Dale Stephens and Erik Pieters, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ashley Westwood and striker Matej Vydra will all miss the game.
