Aston Villa may be without Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings for Saturday’s evening’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Manager Steven Gerrard revealed that the pair both picked up ‘niggles’ in the 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux and have not trained for the majority of the week.

Mings is the more likely out of the two to keep his place as he completed a full day’s training on both Thursday and Friday whereas Buendia may have to once again settle for a place on the bench at best after only participating in training on Friday morning.

Speaking in his pre-match presser , Gerrard said: “Emi Buendía and Tyrone Mings picked up niggles against Wolves.”

“Tyrone trained yesterday so he’s available, Emi trained today so assuming there’s no reaction, he’ll be available.”

Whilst the former Liverpool captain confirmed both were available, he may air on the side of caution as he has done in the past as risking further injury at this stage of the campaign will benefit nobody.

Two players that definitely will be available are Danny Ings and Marvelous Nakamba.

Ings missed the defeat to Wolves after he attended the birth of his child the night before whereas Nakamba will finally come back into contention following his long-term injury.

The Zimbabwe international in-particular will provide a huge boost to a side that have struggled to control the middle of the park in recent weeks.
