Steven Gerrard has enjoyed a productive first summer transfer window with Aston Villa.
The Liverpool legend has converted loan moves for Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen and Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho into permanent deals and completed the free transfer signing of Marseille’s highly-rated midfielder Boubacar Kamara.
The departure of left-back Matt Targett to Newcastle led to a loan deal for Sweden defender Ludwig Augustinsson but the most expensive deal came with the £27.9million move for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.
As well as Targett’s move to the North East, Conor Hourihane, Lovre Kalinic and Trezeguet have all left the club since the end of last season as Gerrard looks to put his stamp on his squad ahead of his first full season in charge at Villa Park.
