Aston Villa’s confirmed starting XI against Leeds - with two changes from Southampton win

Steven Gerrard has made two changes to Aston Villa’s starting XI against Leeds United from their 1-0 win against Southampton last time out.

The Villans’ boss has opted to give Ludwig Augustinsson his first start of the season in Lucas Digne’s absence.

Douglas Luiz also comes into the starting XI, replacing Boubacar Kamara in midfield. The latter also sustained an injury against the Saints.

Villa go into the game at Elland Road unbeaten in their last two Premier League games, while the Whites are without a win in their previous three fixtures in the competition.

Gerrard’s side (14th) sit one place behind Leeds (13th) in the table after their opening eight league games.

Emiliano Martinez remains between the sticks for Villa this afternoon, while Ashley Young, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Augustinsson make up the defence.

Club captain John McGinn maintains his place in the middle of the park with Jacob Ramsey, and Luiz completes a three-man midfield.

Gerrard has continued with a forward three, consisting of Leon Bailey and Philippe Coutinho on the wings and Ollie Watkins in the number nine role.
