Aston Villa travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United on Sunday in Premier League action.

The Villans have been without a fixture for two weeks due to the international break and now face a busy schedule ahead of the World Cup in Qatar in November.

Steven Gerrard’s side sit 15th in the table going into this weekend’s game and have won two of their opening seven league games, drawing one and losing four.

Villa will be looking to go three games unbeaten on Sunday having won their last outing 1-0 against Southampton and drawing 1-1 with Manchester City on September 3.

The Villans will relish their trip to Elland Road given their recent form in West Yorkshire - where they are undefeated in their last four visits.

Speaking on the club’s official website, striker Ollie Watkins knows he and his teammates will have a tough test against Jesse Marsch’s side: “It’s always hostile going to Elland Road but whenever we’ve gone there we’ve done really well.

“They’re in a good bit of form and it will be a difficult game but hopefully we can pull through it and get an away win.

“We need to go there and work hard collectively, as a team, like we did against Manchester City at home and against Southampton.

“Hopefully we’ll come away with three points.”

The 26-year-old is among six different goalscorers in the league for Villa, while also providing two assists.

He is the club’s 11th best performing player so far this season with an average rating of 6.81, according to SofaScore, and is hoping to prove he deserves to remain in Gerrard’s starting XI.

“I feel like I’ve been playing well,” Watkins said.

“The number one thing is always working hard when I go on the pitch. I like to think I’m a team player.

“It will come; I’ll score some goals and I’ll go from there. I just need to be patient and my time will come.

“If I’m not scoring, I need to bring something to the team. If I’m not working hard and I’m not scoring, what am I bringing to the team?

“If I’m not scoring then I need to put myself about and make sure that everyone can see that I’m working hard and doing my best for the team.”
