Aston Villa are preparing to reject any offer for Emiliano Martinez in January, according to Football Insider.

Latest reports had claimed that Manchester United were considering a move for the goalkeeper, with David de Gea’s contract expiring next summer.

Martinez joined Villa in summer 2020 for an initial £17 million and has managed to revive his career after failing to nail down the number one spot at Arsenal.

After winning Aston Villa’s Player of the Season award for his first season at the club, he is now valued at around £45m.

However, the Midlands club are set to turn down any offer for Martinez after snapping him up on a new contract earlier this year - with his deal at Villa Park expiring in 2027.

Man United would likely see the Argentine as their first choice keeper if De Gea was to leave next summer, though the Villans will be hopeful they can’t promise Martinez top level European football if they are to try and tempt him with a move away.

The Red Devils failed to earn themselves a place in the Champions League this season though will be confident of a much improved finish this time round.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa will need to better their recent results if they are to keep hold of their key men at the end of the season.

They currently sit 14th in the league table after a difficult start, however they will be hoping the four points they have claimed from the previous two matches will kickstart their campaign.
