Atletico Madrid ‘targeting’ Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as Oblak replacement

Atletico Madrid are reportedly targeting Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to replace Jan Oblak this summer.

According to The Mirror, Atletico are considering selling Oblak in January with Manchester United heavily linked with a move for the Slovenian.

This could open the door for Martinez to join the Spanish side, although it’s unlikely Villa would entertain such a move in January.

Ex-Premier League boss is interested

Maurico Pochettino is said to be interested in managing Aston Villa.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man is believed to be open to a return to England.

According to a report by Football Insider, he would be ‘keen’ on a move to Villa Park if the managerial vacancy was to become available.
