The former Arsenal man could be targeted by the Spanish giants if they sell Jan Oblak.

That’s according to The Mirror, who claim Diego Simeone’s side have identified him as a potential future addition.

Plymouth Argyle have tied up a new deal for goalkeeper Callum Burton in case Villa-linked Michael Cooper moves on.

Cooper, 22, has already made over 100 appearances for the League One side and is being tipped for a bright future in the game.

Their boss, Steven Schumacher, has told Plymouth Live:

“If Michael got injured or moved on then Callum would step in because he’s a very good goalkeeper. So that was the first and foremost what we wanted to do.”

Maurico Pochettino is said to be interested in managing Aston Villa.
