Aston Villa are back in action this weekend when they take on Chelsea.

Steven Gerrard’s men have endured a pretty frustrating start to the season so far, but they have been more resolute of late.

Villa are unbeaten in four games, but they have won only one of those games, facing Manchester City, Southampton, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest during that time.

Next up is a home clash with a resurgent Chelsea side, with the Blues picking up significantly under Graham Potter. But in the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Villa Park:

Luiz latest

Villa have a fresh problem relating to Douglas Luiz.

The £15m midfielder is out of contract at the end of this season, and it seems unlikely Villa will be able to tie him down to a new deal. Luiz attracted interest from Arsenal in the summer, but Villa decided to reject the offer.

According to Roma Giallorossa, AS Roma are now interested, with the club’s general manager, Tiago Pinto, having three priorities. One of those priorities is said to be the signing of Luiz.

Jose Mourinho wants the defensive midfielder, and Roma reportedly have a good relationship with the player’s agent. Interestingly, Dani Ceballos and Houssem Aouar are said to be the two other options.

Kent warning

Former Celtic star Frank McAvennie has urged Villa not to sign Rangers star Ryan Kent amid transfer links.

“He would not fit in to the Aston Villa team,” the Scot told Football Insider. “They have got so many forward thinking players at Aston Villa, you can’t squeeze them all in. At some point you have got to defend.

“At some point you have got to chase back and he is not doing that. He is not showing a willingness to do that. When you lose the ball the first thing you have to do is get it back.“
