Bednarek has been with the Saints since 2017 and has made over 150 first team appearances, having previously been with Lech Poznań in his native Poland.

In the same year he won his first cap for the Poland men’s national team and has gone on to represent his country on 42 occasions.

It is also claimed that the player has agreed personal terms with Steven Gerrard’s side and could now sign early next week with Bednerak understood to be a replacement for the injured Diego Carlos.

The Brazilian, who was signed this summer, suffered an achilles injury in the 2-1 win over Everton and could potentially miss the rest of the Premier League season.
