Former Aston Villa man finds new club

Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland has been snapped up by Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on a free transfer. The Norway international parted company with Championship outfit Reading at the end of last term.

The 32-year-old was on the books at Villa Park from 2018 to 2020 and made 35 appearances in all competitions. He has since also played for Norwich City and AFC Bournemouth.

Striker to get more game time

Gerrard has hinted that attacker Cameron Archer will get more minutes. The striker is being tipped for a bright future in the game and could be in line for more game time over the next couple of months before the World Cup.

Archer spent the second-half of last season on loan at Preston North End and was a hit with the second tier club. He scored seven goals altogether for the Lancashire side after joining them in January.

The boss has said, as per Birmingham Live:

“Cam is back fit and looking sharp so there will be more minutes for him and Danny (Ings) in the coming weeks. Hopefully we find that blend in the coming weeks.”

Competition for summer signing

Aston Villa reportedly saw off competition to land summer signing Rory Wilson. The youngster made the move down to England from Scottish giants Rangers.

Wilson, 16, apparently had interest from other clubs too but it was Villa who won the race for his signature. According to Football Insider, Brighton and Hove Albion were among the clubs keen.
