We are now entering the back end of the 2024 summer transfer window. Plenty of high profile deals have flown through the doors in the Premier League - but what is happening around Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers today?
Villa are said to be planning a move that would see a beloved club icon return to the club from Manchester City. As things stand, they are looking to set up a loan deal that will contain an obligation to buy clause.

They had been hoping to secure the services of one of their top targets for a cut price deal - however, his current club are not willing to let the player in question go for anything less than his release clause figure.
Aston Villa ‘planning’ shocking return move for Manchester City ace Jack Grealish
Villa could make waves in the transfer window - according to a recent report from TEAMtalk. They are seeking a season-long loan deal for 28-year-old, which will include an obligation to buy clause.
Grealish has become something of a peripheral figure at the Etihad Stadium - last season, he played in just 20 Premier League games for the Citizens, scoring three goals and racking up a solitary assist. As such, should he make the jump back to Villa Park, he would likely receive a far greater share of playing time.
City signed Grealish from Villa back in 2021 for a then-British record transfer fee of £100 million. It is highly unlikely that the Villans will pay anything close to this if they can include an obligation to buy clause in the deal - an official figure from City has yet to be named.

Wolves receive transfer blow as Porto ‘unwilling’ to sell David Carmo below release clause price
Wolves had previously been linked with a move for Porto defender David Carmo - however, according to a report from Portuguese outlet Record, Porto will not let him go for anything less than his £34 million minimum fee release clause.
Gary O’Neil’s men had hoped to bring Carmo on board for a leaner price than this - this now will not be the case. It is unclear if Wolves will take the plunge - they need to sign a new centre-back, following the departure of club captain Max Kilman.
Despite Porto’s insistence on keeping Carmo at the club, he was not one of their star players last season. He made just seven appearances in Liga Portugal in 2023/24 - he spent most of the second half of the season out of the matchday squad.
