Aston Villa learn transfer intentions of player Inter demand £25m for

Aston Villa are interested in signing Inter defender Denzel Dumfries and have reportedly been told what it will take to sign him.

Italian outlet Calciomercato is reporting that Dumfries is a target for Villa this summer. The Serie A giants would consider an offer of more than £25m for the Dutch right-back.

Dumfries' contract is up in the summer of 2025 and Inter are aiming to more than double the €12.5 million they paid for him in August 2021. No official approach has been made for Dumfries has been made yet but an attempt 'cannot be ruled out' according to Calciomercato.

There is a possibility that Dumfries remains at the San Siro with it added last month that he was happy playing for them. A request to double his wages was turned down according to the report, but he could earn €4m a year up from €2.5m should he accept.

It is added at the bottom of the report that Dumfries 'does not' consider Villa to be at Inter's level in terms of reputation and ambition. Inter are top of the league as it stands with a 14-point gap over bitter rivals Milan. They would automatically qualify for the Champions League next season, whereas Villa are fifth and battling in the Europa Conference League.

He is a constant figure in their side with 21 starts in 31 games. Dumfries has got five assists and three goals in 26 league games this term and played in five of their eight Champions League matches, missing two through injury.

At 27-years-old, Dumfries has won two Coppa Italia's and was a Champions League runner-up last year losing to Manchester City. He is a 52-time international for the Netherlands and his summer will be busy with EURO 2024 on the horizon.

Right-back is an area that could Unai Emery aims to improve in the summer. Matty Cash is first-choice but he is currently out injured with a hamstring injury. Ezri Konsa has played in the position when needed whilst Calum Chambers has been used on a sparingly basis.

Villa do have Kosta Nedeljković to welcome though in the summer. He joined for a reported £8m from Red Star Belgrade and will link up with his new club in the summer as he finishes up with the side he began his career at.
