As for Lille, they defeated Marseille on Friday night. Jonathan David, former Newcastle United midfielder Remy Cabella and Gabriel Gudmundsson were on target as Paulo Fonseca’s men sit fourth in Ligue One.

Both Unai Emery and Fonesca will be tasked with choosing a team capable of causing the opposition problems. Here’s the latest injury news ahead of Thursday night’s clash.

Aston Villa team news

Aston Villa have six players that won't play any part on Thursday night. Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings both suffered knee injuries in August and despite returning to training, they aren't expected to play in any of the remaining matches this term.

Boubacar Kamara suffered a similar injury to them and is in the first month of his recovery. He came off injured against Manchester United and it turned out to be an ACL injury. The Frenchman will now miss the European Championship’s with France this summer, but is being tipped to return around October.

Jacob Ramsey's season is over too. He has been missing for the last month with a toe injury, and that is in addition to a foot injury that caused him to miss a couple of months.

Clement Lenglet is the latest player to be ruled out through injury. He has picked up a ‘small’ injury which Emery revealed in his pre-match press conference which will prompt the manager to rethink his defensive plans.

Matty Cash is out with a hamstring issue. He sustained the injury when representing Poland on international duty. He is expected to come back next week, and should he return then he will have a potential suspension to think about.

John McGinn, Moussa Diaby and Cash are all a booking away from either missing next week's second leg or the first leg of the semi-final. If Diaby or McGinn are carded on Thursday they will pick their third up of the campaign and that results in an automatic suspension.
