The latest Aston Villa news and rumours on Monday.

Aston Villa picked up an important win over Southampton last time out.

It was a dull match against the Saints but the hosts did enough to win 1-0 with Jacob Ramsey scoring the goal in the first-half.

The Midlands outfit are back in action after the international break away at Leeds United.

Here is a look at the latest news and rumours coming out of the club...

Chelsea eyeing midfielder

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The Brazilian ace was heavily linked with an exit in the summer transfer window but ended up staying put beyond the deadline.

However, Fichajes has reported that Graham Potter ‘could’ make a move for him this winter as the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss looks to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad.

Player has scan on injury

Villa are sweating on the injury Boubakar Kamara picked up against Southampton.

The summer recruit from Marseille has been a hit since his move and has adapted well to life in England.

As per a report by the Express and Star, he has undergone a ‘scan’ and the club has a nervous wait to see how long he could be potentially out for.

Loan man praised

Keinan Davis scored his first goal for Watford over the weekend as they drew 2-2 at home to Sunderland.

The striker, who spent the second-half of last term with Nottingham Forest, is on a season-long deal with the Hornets.

He has impressed his boss, Rob Edwards, who has told their official club website: “He was really positive, and you can see in his all-round game that when the ball comes to him it sticks. He can really bring people into the game, and I’m really pleased he got his goal because that is what all strikers want.

“We need that, because we need players who are in-form and scoring goals. He needs to keep working hard, because there is a lot more to come from him.”
