Next up is an away trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United after the international break.

Here is a look at the latest news and rumours coming out of the club...

Pundit’s opinion on midfielder’s situation

Former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie believes Aston Villa could cash in on Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with a departure over the summer and is out of contract next year.

Speaking to Football Insider, pundit McAvennie has said:

“If he wants to leave in January, Steven Gerrard will have to tell him they’re dropping the price to £10million or £15m and if he says yes he’ll leave and if he says no he’ll stay until the summer.

“I don’t think players need to money nowadays the way they used to. So Gerrard can talk to him and ask him if he wants to see out his contract or get a bit of money for the club. If he’s got any decency he’ll get some money for the club.”

McGinn admits the game was poor

John McGinn has admitted their clash against the Saints was a poor game.

Villa picked up the win which was the main thing though.

He told Sky Sports after the match:

“If I was watching on the telly I’d have turned it off, but we did well to manage the performance.

“It’s huge. We’ve been criticised this season for not grafting and not fighting, giving away cheap points. Tonight, we fought for every ball and it wasn’t pretty but it was a huge three points.”

Injury update

Steven Gerrard is sweating over Boubacar Kamara’s knee injury.

The midfielder made the move to Villa Park over the summer from Marseille.

As per The Athletic, the boss has said:

“I’m worried about it. It seems like every time we get three points it comes with a cost. We’ll scan him in the next couple of days but, yeah, I’m worried about it.”
