Meanwhile, Wolves have sent a clear indication to Arsenal regarding the availability of one of their players. The player in question has been omitted from their recent kit launch promos.

Alex Moreno ‘pushing’ for Aston Villa exit

Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno could leave the club in the coming weeks. With the arrival of Ian Maatsen and the existing presence of former France international Lucas Digne, Moreno risks being lost in the shuffle if he stays due to the surplus of left-backs in Villa’s squad.

This is according to a report from Football Insider. Previously, Digne looked more likely to leave the club - now, however, the roles have been reversed. No clubs are linked with the Spaniard as things stand, but it looks increasingly likely that he will depart Villa Park - especially with his services being touted.

Villa do not want to sell the player - they will try to ‘convince’ him to remain at the club, despite their overabundance of senior team players in his position. He is thought to be ‘keen’ on the idea of returning to La Liga. Previously, Moreno has played for teams such as Mallorca, Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano. He has been at Villa since 2023, when he signed for an undisclosed fee.

Wolves send Arsenal transfer ‘hint’ on status of Dan Bentley

Previously in the transfer window, Arsenal had been linked with a move for Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley. Recently, the former Southend United shot-stopper has been left out of Wolves’ kit release promotion material - indicating that he may no longer be a part of Gary O’Neil’s plans.

This is according to a recent report from Football London. Since he arrived at the club back in 2023, Bentley has made just five Premier League appearances for Wolves. While he has never been their first choice ‘keeper, his presence in the squad has been useful - his status as an English-born helps Wolves keep up their home grown quota.

With the departure of Max Kilman to West Ham United earlier in the transfer window, Wolves may need to snap up some talents who were trained in England before deadline day comes around.

Premier League rules state that clubs are allowed to have no more than 17 non-home grown players in their squads - thus, in a 25-man squad, at least eight of them must have been trained in England for a period of three years between their 15th and 21st birthdays.

Bentley played for Arsenal during his youth career from 2001 to 2008 - he has also featured for clubs such as Braintree Town, Bristol City and Brentford.
