The West Midlands boasts some seriously talented exports, from movie stars and musicians to world class football players.
Recently, we’ve had a look at the famous faces - actors, musicians and even politicians - who were raised in and around Birmingham. Now, we’ve decided to take a look at the famous celebrities who grew up in nearby Wolverhampton.
Many famous people grew up in the city which has plenty to offer. It’s steeped in history and has its prestigious football club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, of course. ‘Wulfrunians’ are extremely proud of their city.
And many actors, sportspeople and legendary musicians all come from the area. With this in mind, we’ve taken a look at the most famous people who are from Wolverhampton - let’s take a look:
1. Liam Payne
The former One Direction star was born at New Cross Hospital in the Heath Town district of the city. The Black County singer has lived in LA and Surrey during previous years. He’s also a West Brom fan
2. Beverley Knight
Wolverhampton-born Beverley is best known for her hit singles “Greatest Day”, “Get Up!”, “Shoulda Woulda Coulda”, and “Come as You Are” and is widely labelled as one of Britain’s greatest soul singers Photo: SJM Concerts
3. Kevin Rowland
Wolverhampton born and bred, Rowland is a British musician and DJ best known for being part of Dexys Midnight Runners and The Killjoys. He has also said he supports Wolves in numerous interviews.
4. Ashley Williams
Born in Wolverhampton, Williams went on to play for Swansea City and Everton in the Premier League and was also the captain of Wales. He featured for the Wales team which reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals Photo: Richard Ponter
