Whether it’s the art and culture, diversity, music scene or just the people - there are so many reasons the people of Birmingham love their city.
The Commonwealth Games last summer helped to show the world why Brum is so brilliant, with opening and closing ceremonies celebrating the city’s history.
The city is renowned for its art, culture and music and Brummies are also proud of being such a multicultural city. Birmingham has become an exciting place to live for many in recent years.
The city is a brilliant place to live and work for youngsters and our city has the youngest population in the continent, with under-25s accounting for nearly 40% of our population.
And being one of the UK’s biggets cities, it’s no surprise that many inventions that are key to our day to day life were also thought of and made in Birmingham.
So with all of this in mind, we’ve decided to take a look at what Birmingham has given to the world over the years.
1. Cadbury chocolate
From trophies to chocolate - yes, Birmingham is the birth place of the country’s most famous chocolate, Cadbury’.
Not only is this a great thing to boast to all your friends about, but you can also visit Cadbury World and eat as much chocolate as your stomach can handle. | Local TV
2. Black Sabbath & heavy metal
Our city is known as the birthplace of heavy metal. Birmingham in the late 1960s and early 1970s was the home to much heavy metal music with the likes of Black Sabbath, Napalm Death, and Judas Priest all hailing from the city. | AFP via Getty Images
3. FA Cup tophy
Considering its reputation for being the UK’s main jewellery provider, it’s not surprising that Birmingham also has a proud trophy making history. After Aston Villa won the FA Cup but lost the trophy in 1895,the FA ordered the club to fund a replacement and they turned to another Jewellery Quarter firm, P Vaughton and Sons, to make an exact replica.
