'What comes next for West Midlands buses' event cancelled due to Storm Boelo

The event was closed early due to weather conditions.

An event for West Midlands residents to help decide the fate of the regions bus services has been cancelled due to Storm Boelo.

Transport for West Midlands were hosting a ‘what comes next for buses event’ in Solihull today (October 24) to allow the public to have their say on what happens to the future of the transport service as it heads into public ownership.

However, the event had to close early due to adverse weather conditions as Storm Boelo has hit parts of the UK today.

In a statement on social media just after 1.30pm, Transport for West Midlands said: “Due to severe wind, our shaping what comes next for buses event in Solihull town centre has finished early.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The news comes as Storm Boelo is bringing strong winds and heavy rain to parts of the West Midlands, with yellow weather warnings in place for Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Shropshire and Herefordshire.

Gusts of up to 65mph are possible in affected areas, while heavy rain could cause surface water flooding, with up to 60mm possible in some upland areas.

Travel disruption, fallen trees, damage to buildings and power cuts are possible. Residents are advised to check travel conditions and keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
