Police appeal after gunshot heard in Halesowen

Police are appealing for witnesses after a drive-by shooting in Halesowen.

The incident took place just before 9.45pm on Tuesday (September 6) in Lodgefield Road.

Nobody was injured but police are appealing for anyone who may have information to contact them.

A police spokesman said: “We believe the shot was fired from another car which drove off aggressively afterwards –did you see anything?

The region has the highest rate of gun violence, according to Home Office figures.

West Midlands Police recorded 721 crimes involving firearms for the year ending March 2021.

Last year, 14 year-old gunman, Yussuf Mustapha, was sentenced to life with a minimum of 16 years to serve, for the murder of 15-year-old Keon Lincoln and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

In 2022, three gang members who tried to kill a 13-year-old by shooting him with a homemade gun were jailed for attempted murder.Convicted Zidann Edwards and Diago Anderson, both 20, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named, paralysed the 13-year-old, as a result of the shooting.

The attack took place on November 18, 2021 in the underpass at Hockley Circus, Birmingham.

The victim was attacked after reportedly straying onto the “turf” of a Birmingham gang called Armed Response.
