Advice on keeping valuables safe

Anyone with high value jewellery or watches are advised to keep a note of identifying marks and watch serial numbers. Also take photographs with information about its value and the purchase date. This can be noted securely in your own way or you can use immobilise.com

For securing valuables at home, speak to your insurer and invest in an approved safe installed to manufacturer’s instructions. Further information can be found at www.securedbydesign.com where you can also find information on how to protect your home, the police said.

You can also keep your jewellery and other valuables in a safety deposit box at a bank or building society but take advice from your insurance company on recognised trade bodies, such as The Safety Deposit Association or the National Pawnbrokers Association.
